Late '70s Tourism Film Showcases the Attractions of Chicago

Here's one that comes from the dusty archives of the Chicago Public Library's film collection. Titled simply Chicago Is..., this film 1977 sought to lure travelers to Chicago during a period of transition for what was, at the time, the county's second largest city. The film comes as a collaboration between the Chicago Convention & Tourism Bureau, the United States Travel Service and the Illinois Office of Tourism — the latter two which are now known as the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Illinois Department of Business and Economic Development. Chicago is marketed as a city that not only has a skyline with sensational skyscrapers, but it's also a city of museums and many outdoor attractions, specifically the lakefront and the many outdoor plazas that stood at the base of Loop office towers.
