Sun Valley's Priciest Listing is Home to Unconventional Tastes

New, 1 comment

For a quintessential mountain destination, Sun Valley's most expensive listing has a pretty unconventional interpretation of ski town design on the inside. The exterior hardly offers any hints, but the $20 million estate gravitates toward polished, bright surfaces like white stone, brushed metal and glass. With no rough hewn timber or river rock, the only thing this interior owes to the rustic lodge aesthetic are parts of is form: heavy beams bracing vaulted ceilings. The 8-bedroom, 11-bath house on 3 acres looks more like a Southern California megachurch (maybe that's a cathedral ceiling in the great room) than a typical Sun Valley ski lodge. The glass-bound staircase and walkway ripped from Class A office space and heavy helping of mid-modern furnishings only emphasize the oddities of the home. It's an enviable location next to Big Wood River and minutes from skiing, but it might take a particular set of tastes to really appreciate this blockbuster listing.
