Aspen Voters Reject New Affordable Mirco-Hotel Development

In yesterday's election, 63 percent of Aspen, Colorado voters rejected a proposal for a new affordable hotel called Base2. Developer Mark Hunt spearheaded the project that would have brought a tiny-room hotel to the site of the Conoco gas station at Main and Monarch streets. But as the Aspen Daily News reports, the recent vote was a "decisive repudiation of the city's willingness to trade zoning incentives in exchange for a would-be affordable lodge."
