A tipster sent along this listing in Ketchum, Idaho with the following commendation: "A damn cool house in ski/hike/bike country perfect for amenity migrants" (read: people who snatch up homes for recreational opportunities). And it is oh-so-accurate. Besides the obvious perks—incredible mountain views from all directions and proximity to outdoorsy attractions outstanding enough to draw international tourists—it's simply hard to avoid gawking at (and maybe crying about) how spacious even the bathroom is...at least in context of itty-bitty (often very sad) city apartments.
The 2008-built pad, a collaboration between McLaughlin Architects, Dembergh Construction, and Jennifer Hoey Interior Design and winner of a Idaho AIA Citation award in 2012, spreads three bedrooms and five bathrooms over 6,066 square feet and sits on a hilly 4.5 acres. In plan, the house looks like a bird or a plane with two wings of heavily glazed spaces cascading off the central living/dining area (also equipped with a bar and wine cellar.)
