Check Out These Eerie Photos of an Abandoned Japanese Island Town

The Japanese island of Gunkanjima was developed in the 19th century because of its underground coal mines, but once the mines went dry in 1974 the island's residents were deported. It has been abandoned ever since, but Australian photographer Shane Thoms managed to sneak out there and take some really incredible pictures.
