Frank Lloyd Wright Inspired the Design of One of the Star Wars Planets

New, 2 comments

Frank Lloyd Wright's influence is vast, with its reach even finding a location as remote as a galaxy far, far away. Inhabitat picked this very apropos time to remind of the fact that Naboo, a planet that is featured prominently in the first two prequels and briefly in two of the original films, was inspired in part by Wright's Marin County Civic Center, the architect's final and largest public project. George Lucas had used it as a filming location for his first feature length film, THX 1138, in 1971. He was so taken with the blue domes that he modeled Naboo, the home planet of Emperor Palpatine and, uh, Jar Jar Binks, after them.
