A 932-Square-Foot 'Jewel Box' Bungalow Lists for $1.9M

New, 26 comments

Curbed's Micro Week 2015 House of the Day run is dropping in square footage each day, until we've reached a truly tiny home that still embodies everything that makes a dwelling HOD-worthy. (Sorry, but tiny houses on flatbed trailers need not apply.) As always, we love tips.

Location: Los Angeles, California
Price: $1,895,000

A 1925 "Jewel Box" in Venice, Los Angeles with 932-square-feet of interior space was put on the market late last month for $1,895,000. Last sold in 2006 for about half as much, this petite dwelling has been tastefully updated with an eye toward "Belgian, French, and Italian design." The kitchen is one highlight; it's got a La Cornue range, a walk-in pantry, and a "large stone prep sink with wall-mounted faucets."

In back, a set of bi-folding French doors open both bedrooms to a "private sanctuary with a stone alcove and pond, rustic stone fireplace sound of the fountain gurgling nearby." Further back, an olive tree provides shade for an outdoor kitchen with a Wolf grill and a stone-topped island. There's also a pillow covered seating area and a studio with "carriage doors that open wide to a view of the lemon trees and vine-covered archway."
