Durango investor and skier James Coleman just finalized his purchase of Durango Mountain Resort and to celebrate, he decided to change the name of the 50-year-old ski area back to Purgatory. Curbed Ski first reported on the sale back in October, when Coleman announced that he had added Durango Mountain Resort and Arizona Snowbowl to his collection of ski areas that already included Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort south of Taos, New Mexico, and Pajarito Mountain Ski Area in Los Alamos, New Mexico. We're thrilled that the much more memorable name "Purgatory" is back in business. [Denver Post and Curbed Ski, previously]
