As the curtain closes on the fourth consecutive drought-plagued winter in California, new statistics show that the heat of the past 12 months tops all California records going back to 1895 as well 1,000 year-old tree ring records. The last 12 months were a full 4.5 degrees Fahrenheit (2.5 Celsius) above the twentieth century average. To put that 4.5 degrees in perspective, consider that a mere 2.2 degrees Fahrenheit separates the hottest year ever recorded on Earth (2014) from the coldest (1911). [Bloomberg]
