Update Your Plumbing: You Might Just Find an Archeological Treasure Trove

An excellent New York Times piece published yesterday tells the story of an Italian man who bought a building with the intention of turning it into a trattoria (an eating establishment), enlisted his sons to help him fix the plumbing, and ended up uncovering "ancient vases, Roman devotional bottles, an ancient ring with Christian symbols, medieval artifacts, hidden frescoes and more." The lesson here is clear: update your plumbing, and you might just reveal an archeological treasure trove and get to turn your house into a museum. (Note: it might not work as well if you don't live in Italy.)
