Clandon Park, located just outside Guildford, Surrey, England, is described the British National Trust website as "one of the country's most complete examples of a Palladian mansion." Unfortunately, it is currently on fire, which is especially upsetting when you see pictures of what the interiors looked like a mere eight hours ago. The mansion was built by Venetian architect Giacomo Leoni in the 1720s and featured original stucco ceilings and marble fireplaces. Its stewards, though upset, are responding with typically British emotional reserve, with tweets like "Clandon House Guildford is well ablaze. Such a shame." And, later, "Yes, it's about gutted now."
