Although Oregon's Mt. Ashland ski area was only open for 42 percent of a normal season, it will live to fight another day. Mt. Ashland saved on expenses by 33 percent this year, allowing the nonprofit to finish the season in a fairly healthy cash position despite operating for only 38 days. Now, the ski area is waiting on approval from the U.S. Forest Service to expand their summer activities. [Mail Tribune]
