A Peek Inside Renzo Piano's Glassy Atelier in Paris

Renzo Piano Building Workshop has three main offices, one of which is in Paris. The glass-fronted studio in the 4th arrondissement serves as the 130-person firm's model-making workshop, and unsurprisingly resembles many of Renzo Piano's recent projects. The gabled glass roof looks like a miniature version of one the Italian starchitect designed for the Harvard Art Museums, while the façade treats glass panes and vertical lines in a fashion similar to the New York Times' headquarters, known for its artsy shadows. Design Boom recently went on a site visit, and photographed the office's impressive wall of tools, an open-plan workroom flooded with natural light, and Piano's transparent corner office, which is partially obscured by plants.
