Squaw Valley Will Replace Siberia Express With New Chairlift

And the news out of Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows just keeps coming. Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, LLC just confirmed plans to upgrade the Siberia Express, a high-speed quad, with a high-speed six-passenger chairlift. Originally installed in 1985, the Siberia Express was one of the first detachable quads in the country. By replacing it the resort hopes that the new chair lift will improve reliability and efficiency, especially in inclement weather. This is great news for skiers and snowboarders at Squaw, as Siberia is a popular lift used to access Siberia Bowl, Mainline and the Mainline Terrain Park, as well as the Gold Coast area. The new lift should be up and running for the 2015-2016 winter season.
