The northeast had an awesome winter this past season, and it looks like Vermont's Stratton Mountain Resort wants to keep the good vibes going with a new base lodge. The ski area just announced that they are beginning construction on an $8.5 million project to renovate Stratton's iconic Base Lodge. Skiers can expect a second floor on the east and west wings which will add approximately 350 much-needed seats and 4,000 square feet. The lodge will also get a larger kitchen for Grizzly's restaurant, a new serving area, coffee shop, and flooring. Keeping with the ski area's aesthetic, the design includes lots of stone, hardwoods, barn style board and gates, and energy-efficient lighting. All construction will be finished in time for the 2015-2016 season. More info, over here.
