Environmentalists Challenge Eldora's Expansion Plans

After receiving tentative approval to expand, Eldora Mountain Resort, a ski area only 21-miles west of Boulder, Colorado, is now facing stiff opposition from environmentalists. Eldora's plans call for growing about 70 acres on its north side and 18 acres on its south side, as well as replacing two chairlifts, adding two new chairlifts, and building a new mid-mountain lodge (view the full plan, over here). As the Denver Post reports, environmentalists believe Eldora can fulfill its mission without expansion into national forest lands, and they are willing to head to court to prove it.
