There's probably a more eloquent way to put this, but bad things that have been repurposed into good things are the best. Take, for example, these chairs that were created by a furniture maker in Belfast from oil barrels that weren't getting recycled. Or this garden in Peru, pictured above, just featured on Contemporist, which used to be a cockfighting coliseum. In both cases, you can clearly see the chair's/garden's ignominious origins in its current makeup, and in both cases it has been transformed into something entirely beautiful. Really makes you feel like there's hope for... something. Definitely for former cockfighting pits, at least.
