The developer of the controversial and long-delayed proposed base village at Snowmass just upped the ante, offering a $7 million amenity package to the town of Snowmass Village. As part of its Base Village preliminary plan application, Related Colorado wants to house the permanent Snowmass Discovery collection and to build a flexible plaza area for farmer's markets and ice skating. The original 2004 plans called for an aquatic center, but Snowmass ultimately rejected those plans and asked Related to come up with something different. Only about 40 percent of the 1.1-million-square-foot project at the base of Snowmass Ski Area has been completed.
