Artist Transforms London Gallery Into a Fantastical Playground

Belgian artist Carsten Höller has transformed London's Brutalist-styled Hayward Gallery with his strange and fanciful installations, including a massive outdoor slide. Höller frequently uses architecture, film, performance, and other mediums to make viewers experiment or question their reality. Imagine the psychedelic scenarios of Alice in Wonderland—and indeed, one artwork lets visitors spin giant mushrooms. This exhibit at the Hayward Gallery, entitled "Carsten Höller: Decision," focuses on examining your own decision making process: there are two distinct paths through the gallery, each of which confronts visitors with bizarre environments or sensations. The massive slides are, of course, the exhibition's culmination and the art we're most likely to wish we could replicate elsewhere.
