Tour a Splendid, Simple Beach House in the Hamptons

New, 1 comment

A Boston-based couple planned a seaside retreat in the Hamptons, a place where they could avoid the social commitments they'd face in Nantucket or the Vineyard. They wanted the house, featured in Architectural Digest, to look like an English-style cottage. They purchased just over an acre of oceanfront land in Sagaponack and enlisted New York-based interior designer Elissa Cullman of Cullman & Kravis and architect Thomas Kligerman of Ike Kligerman Barkley to build them a house. The wife says, "I wanted to feel like I was at the beach. I didn't want a big, fancy house—I wanted it to be laid-back, breezy, and simple."
