On the heels of reports that Colorado ski towns are booming, Colorado governor John Hickenlooper just announced the creation of the state's first office for outdoor recreation. Called (rather blandly) the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, the new organization aims to support and increase Colorado's thriving outdoor rec industry. Each year the state brings in $13 billion annually in consumer spending and generates $4.2 billion in salaries and wages per year, all from people playing outside.
