The west received plenty of precipitation this past May (just check out these maps), and the weather pattern was particularly favorable to Arapahoe Basin in Colorado. One of the last ski resorts open in North America, Arapahoe Basin received 54 inches of snow in May. The resort's record snowfall for that month was 82 inches in 1995, when the ski area kept the lifts spinning until August 10. This season, A-Basin will stay open through at least the weekend of June 12-14 and maybe longer depending on conditions. Fingers crossed for skiing on the 4th of July!
