The World Building of the Year honor is bestowed but once a year by the World Architecture Festival as an annual acknowledgement of the stellar design churned out by starchitects—BIG, Zaha Hadid Architects, and Foster + Partners each had works nom'd—and upstarts alike. Of the 26 candidates, there are the predictable nominees, like the gorgeous Fulton Transit Center in downtown Manhattan, and the lesser-known gems, like a rectilinear contemplative seaside chapel by EMC Arquitectura. In case you want more info, we've covered quite a few of this year's shortlisted projects.
