Like the homes of many creative folks, the Victorian-style South African residence of designer couple Diana and Andre James is a piece of art in itself. Recently spotlighted over on Design Sponge, the house blends Victorian, global, and industrial aesthetics: the kitchen, for example, mixes exposed ceilings with modern cabinets, while the living room features a minimal pendant lighting fixture against intricate Victorian-era ceilings. The dwelling does have one ingenious motif running through it all, and that's the wooden picture rails made by Andre. The horizontal planks hold up a bunch of thin strings that, in turn, playfully showcase collections of Kabuki masks, South African and Japanese plates, and more.
Called "The Object House" is in fact a showroom that you can tour by appointment. Get the full story and more photos at Design Sponge.
