King Arthur Castle Holds Contest for 'Structurally Daring' Bridge Design

New, 1 comment

English Heritage, the guardian of Cornwall's famous Tintagel Castle, long linked to the Arthurian legends, has issued an open call to designers around the world to create a new clifftop footbridge, as the existing one has been deemed too difficult to traverse, for some. (The organization seems little bit salty about this point, writing on its website, "The existing approach ... is perceived by some non-visitors as demanding and although many visitors enjoy the experience some can find it a challenge.") They are currently accepting Expressions of Interest, and say they "envisage an elegant, even structurally daring, concept which is beautiful in its own right and sensitively-balanced with the landscape and exceptional surroundings."
