This week, the developer of the Snowmass Base Village, Related Colorado, announced that in order to commence work on the long-stalled project, the company needs assurances on its preliminary plan by September 14. Both city officials, local residents, and developers all agree on one thing: the Snowmass Base Village needs to be finished, and fast. But what this will look like and how long it will take is still up for debate. Related would like to secure final project approval by December 21. According to the Aspen Daily News, this would allow the Limelight Hotel, second phase of the Viceroy Snowmass, and a new vacation club property to hopefully be under construction by April 2016. The new target date for completion is the 2017/2018 ski season. Whether city officials can move as quickly as Related would like remains to be seen.
