Vail Resorts just announced that the company has closed on its first international acquisition. The industry giant has been all about the big announcements in 2015, and the purchase of Australia's Perisher Ski Resort in March came just days after Vail Resorts' bombshell that they would create America's largest ski area in Utah. The company purchased Perisher, the biggest ski resort in Australia, for approximately $134.8 million, fulfilling promises that Vail Resorts was looking to expand internationally. The move is part of a larger, very successful season pass strategy. Selling more than 400,000 season passes each year, Vail Resorts has consistently looked to buy ski areas in markets that will drive destination skiers to their other resorts.
