Things are looking up for ski areas in New Mexico: the region saw one of the best ski seasons in nearly 10 years with almost 20% more skier days reported throughout the state. According to Ski New Mexico, the 2014-2015 winter had 176,000 more skier visits than 2013-2014, generating about $98 million more dollars in economic activity. Consistent snowfall, better snowmaking, and increased marketing efforts are likely causes. New Mexico has also been in the ski industry news lately, with big announcements like the opening of the new Kachina Peak lift at Taos Ski Valley, and a slew of construction and improvement projects underway this summer.
