We love a ruggedly handsome prefab pad as much as the next design-minded person, but once in a while a shipping container house or other prefabricated home goes above and beyond and we applaud heartily. So imagine our delight when we came across this customizable prefab option from Australian company Ecoliv. The manufacturer of the 100% sustainable units claims it can deliver a custom-built house from the prefab components in just 14 weeks. Quite impressive! This home, showcased at last year's Sustainable Living Festival in Melbourne, clocks in at a roomy but by no means oversized 746 square feet, and includes a 10,000 gallon cistern for rainwater collection and a 2-kilowatt, grid-connected solar energy system.
