Students at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London were asked this year to "develop a utopian dream," and one of them came up with the idea for this airport, now featured on Dezeen, which might be a utopia for planes, but would definitely not a utopia for the apartments and offices situated mere feet from the elevated runway. Per Dezeen, "The proposal claims that, by using a system of elevated taxi-track systems to move aeroplanes around the terminals, engines could be disengaged until take-off and would hence produce far less emissions and noise." Takeoff would still presumably generate some noise, but what are you gonna do.
