Soak In Ocean Views at This Island Retreat in Maine

Offering sweeping views of a coastal bay—where the Kennebec River meets the Atlantic—the Ledge House features several places to take in its sweeping views: in addition to floor-to-ceiling glass in the living room, the design boasts a screened porch on the ground floor and open deck on the second. The designers—Theodore + Theodore Architects—provided an even higher vantage point: the roof, which doubles as a patio and rainwater collector. While you can take in the vistas, the house will be harder spot from the bay: it's cedar and copper siding will weather to match the landscape.
