Falling right in line with hardcore Lego builders and super resourceful dollhouse renovators is Brooklyn, NY-based artist Ryan McAmis, who has been painstakingly crafting a scale model of a Gothic Italian cathedral by hand. First spotted by ArchDaily, the project involves creating all the incredibly intricate architectural details—stained glass windows! checkerboard flooring! vaulted ceilings!—from scratch.
As McAmis details on his website, he casts many of the pieces from silicone molds and then hand-paints them. The project is expected to take years (!), so you still have time to follow along on his website or Instagram account.
