Although Telluride, Colorado is best known for gorgeous scenery, killer skiing, and some of the best summer festivals around, the town is looking to diversify. That's the goal of the Telluride Foundation-backed Telluride Venture Accelerator (TVA), a program that invests human and financial capital in new enterprises to strengthen the entrepreneurial community of the region. TVA hosts an annual competition that selects up to 6 companies to attend a five-month mentor program in Telluride. This past week, the TVA graduated its latest class of startups, which includes a company that builds and operates avalanche drones and a company that wants to be the Yelp for campgrounds.
