These Super Cool Sculptural Lamps Turn Lighting into a Game

Believe it or not, there can be so much more drama to lighting up a room than merely pressing a button. Check out, for example, Node, a series of five lamps that transform the illumination process from a passive to an active one. Designed by Netherlands-based design outfit Odd Matter Studio, these elegant lamps demand people to delicately twist an arm, connect a joint, or separate two components, in order to turn the light on or off. To add to the fun, the eye-catching copper and Jesmonite lamps resemble electric circuits, drawing us closer to the physics and poetics of delivering light.
