A Spiral Stair Takes Center Stage at This Gorgeous Mod Pad

With a look akin to a Mies van der Rohe house sitting atop Le Corbusier-style pilotis, the House Out of the Floating Box is a work by local design firm Park + Associates in Singapore's Bedock neighborhood. A double-height living space bordered by walls of glass; an exposed spiral staircase connecting the house's two stories; mesh cladding that dapples the sunlight entering the house; lush greenery in the minimal, contemporary interiors; this floating box makes a strong case for open-plan architecture that allows for a bit of improvisation when it comes to how its occupants live, while still providing infrastructure for basic functions, along with the privacy and livability a house needs.
