Centered on a 900-square-foot "great room," this new-build dwelling in Seattle—designed by local firm Capsule—is a testament to a new vogue in contemporary residential design: The need to provide ample space for full-on gatherings of extended family. (We've all been there.) The Madison Park Residence, as it's known, named for its Seattle neighborhood, is a quintessentially clean-lined modern pad, clad in vertically aligned steel panels and with a facade punctuated by windows of various sizes, to maximize natural light inside the house. Double-height interiors help, too, as in the great room and open-plan kitchen, which overlooks the entire space.
