LA's Famed Modern Pilot House From 1948 Asks $1.125M

New, 1 comment

Before architects A. Quincy Jones and Whitney Smith, and engineer Edgardo Contini went to work on Brentwood's renowned Modern architecture community Crestwood Hills, they built this aptly named Pilot House in Mt. Washington (itself an "architecturally blessed" enclave) to show "how well-designed homes could be built on steep hillside lots." The residence, built in 1948 and designated a city monument in 2002, stretches across its corner lot and affords incredible views of the surrounding hills through its many angled windows. Wood floors and large windows run throughout the stunning post and beam house. Outdoors spaces include multiple patios and a pool. The two-bedroom, 1,524-square-foot house is now listed for $1.125 million.
