The towers for Snowmass' new $8 million High Alpine lift were dropped into place Thursday by a K-Max helicopter. The new high-speed quad will shrink the 11-minute ride time of the old fixed-grip lift down to 5.6 minutes, and the lift's route is being realigned as well. Tuesday's installation took only 6 hours and was timed perfectly to catch some fall colors.
