Edmonton just opened a 400-meter ice skating path, called the "freezeway," as a pilot program—if all goes according to plan the city will have a 3.5 kilometer freezeway in future winters. (It will double in length to 800 meters next year.) And although it's probably too early to determine the project's success, Edmontonians seem to be enjoying it, as evidenced by their many Twitter and Instagram pictures.
