Cambridge, Massachusetts-based architecture firm Aamodt / Plumb Architects—a member of last year's inaugural class of Curbed Groundbreakers—masterminded this "modern Texas prefab," which was designed, built, and ready for move-in in just under a year. Measuring a healthy 6,000 square feet, the Austin, Texas, residence comprises a gabled, sustainable-timber frame erected in just two weeks. Though this timeline was speedy, casual passersby would be forgiven for not noticing that the house was designed, developed, and built so quickly: the house has an open, airy interior and custom finishes (like charred or shou sugi ban cypress wood wall paneling) that doesn't belie the prefabricated construction that made it possible.
