Located between Lake Tahoe and Reno, Mt. Rose Ski Area is an independently-owned resort with about 1,200 skiable acres. Since 1971, it's been managed by majority shareholder Fritz Buser who oversaw millions of dollars in upgrades in the past 15 years. Now, Buser is 95 years old and looking to retire, officially announcing this week that he will be selling the ski area. There's been no info on exactly how much Mt. Rose will be listed for, or how long the process will take. Day-to-day operations are expected to continue as usual, and all of Lake Tahoe resorts are currently experiencing a better-than-average ski season thanks to El Niño.
