It's a familiar story that never gets old: a time-capsule midcentury home finds the owner it deserves, preservation-minded folks who are eager to find their dream home in the original design. This is the story told in a recent feature on Apartment Therapy. The couple who purchased this San Diego-area home, a 1961-built hillside residence by architect Richard Lareau, has been restoring it room by room—making a few cosmetic changes like new paint jobs and updated appliances along the way, while furnishing the place little by little with midcentury pieces.
According to the realtor who previously represented the house, a lot of the furniture, cabinetry, and lighting fixtures in the home were custom made. The house was also featured in the March 1961 issue of San Diego Magazine. Check out the full tour of the home in its well-loved present state here.
