Inside the Stockholm home of Hem founder Petrus Palmér

A humble charmer

For a shining example of how to showcase eye-catching furniture and decor, look to the Stockholm family home of Petrus Palmér, founder and CEO of online design store Hem. Once a blacksmith’s workshop, the space was recently overhauled by Swedish studio Förstberg Ling, who knows a thing or two about whipping up quietly charming spaces.

Inside, muted materials like concrete, white walls, and pale wood serve as the backdrop for Hem products, including a leather chair by German design studio DING3000 near the stairs and modular pendant lamps by Italian designer Luca Nichetto in the dining area. While a large skylight sends sunshine through the ground floor living area, a newly added second level creates more intimate bedrooms and bathrooms, with smaller skylights of their own.
