An updated time capsule of sorts

Exterior shot of low-slung midcentury-style home with flat roof and low yellow brick wall enclosing the front. A bright blue door makes the front entrance. Palm trees all around.
A little raunchy in all the right ways.

Location: Palm Springs, California

Price: $998,000

There’s something oddly raunchy about this 1959-built home in Palm Springs, but in the best swinging way possible. Perhaps it’s the gleaming terrazzo floors, or the in-ground line of fire edging the covered patio, or the bright yellow brick wall that frames the front of the property, or the vivid blue main entrance with vaguely Asian detailing.

Though it may also be the vast stone fireplace, or the wet bar, or the picture-perfect pink bathroom (or the grey one, or the teal one—there are four total, three of them ensuite!), or the new patterned carpeting lining all three vast bedrooms and an expansive living room.

But outside, there’s also a glimmering pool with waterfall, an outdoor fireplace, tons of space for entertaining, and mountain vistas. With over 3,400 square feet of space to mull it over, there may be no real need to get to the bottom of it. It’s historic, like a time capsule in parts, but also updated for contemporary indulgences. If all of this appeals to you, it’s available for just shy of a million, at $998,000 after a recent price cut.
