Book lovers, get ready to swoon: The Literary Man Hotel in Obidos, Portugal doesn’t just have a library, the entire hotel is full of books. Located in a medieval village northwest of Lisbon that is over 700 years old, the hotel boasts 30 rooms in a range of styles featuring small touches that pay homage to the literary world.
But where the hotel really differs is in the communal spaces. According to Travel + Leisure, the hotel currently boasts more than 45,000 books with a goal of having more than 100,000. Once an 18th-century monastery, the remodeled space is now full of old-world charm and a hefty amount of wood. You’ll find books in every bit of the building, from the floor to ceiling shelves to stacks on side tables.
There’s also a cocktail lounge—with a focus on gin—and a restaurant where the drinks are named after literary legends and the seating is more laid-back lounge than stuffy restaurant. There are even torn book pages under glass table tops and in most of the bedrooms, books are the main decorating item.
Lodging starts around €90 (about $95) per night. Head over here for more info.
