Next time you want to complain about the cold, think of this. Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks recorded a wind chill of minus 114 degrees this past weekend. The temperatures were made public by the Wild Center in a Facebook post that's now gone viral. The post said, "At 11:15 Saturday night it was -38 and the wind was howling at 45 mph at their station on the summit of Whiteface. Together, that makes it -84 wind chill using the new system, and for those who wish to put that in a historical context -114 using the old system. But who's counting. The picture? It's monstrous rime ice forming on a tree..." The temperatures were taken by the Atmospheric Science Research Center at SUNY Albany that has a research station on the summit at Whiteface. According to the National Weather Service, those temps made New York state colder than Antarctica.
