Molding a cozy abode out of a former lumberyard isn't the craziest home conversion we've seen, but the results here are nonetheless impressive. To turn the industrial building in the heart of Melbourne into a modern home, Aussie firm BG Architecture erected few walls, instead favoring large steel-framed glass windows that open up the ground floor living spaces to the courtyard. A motif throughout the residence, which slots two more intimate bedrooms on the lofted second level, is the exposed brick wall. Yeah, yeah, it's pretty overexposed by now, but at least here, all the brick is original to the building and retained as a nod to its history.
