CDs, to put it bluntly, used to be quite a bit more useful than they currently are. However, there are still a large number of CDs lying around—you probably have a bunch right in your house. So, what are you supposed to do with them? Line them along the outside of an abandoned farmhouse? Sure, why not?
That's what artist r1 did to a farmhouse in rural South Africa, and it turned out pretty well. The CDs catch the light, creating pretty rainbow patterns, and in one small moment are able to feel, once again, like they're worth something. Like they're making a difference. Poor CDs.
