Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska is used to getting loads of snow and over the past 48 hours the ski area just got hammered with 50 inches. The photo above was posted on the resort's Facebook page on Sunday with the message, "Due to high winds, heavy precip and extremely challenging conditions we will not be operating today for skiing. The good news: all this snow, plus more, will be waiting for us to shred soon! The Round House and upper tram terminal are absolutely buried."
Alyeska opened up late today (around 1:00 pm) and now boasts a jaw-dropping 613 inches of total snowfall this winter. That's pretty impressive given the fact that their annual average is about 650 inches.
