This Oregon House Is Secretly a Renaissance Castle Inside

New, 6 comments

Pssst. Come over here. Closer. We have a secret to tell you. You see this unassuming three-bedroom house in Newport, Oregon that is currently on the market for $399,000? Looks pretty normal, right? Well it's actually a Renaissance castle. The house is, according to Yahoo! Real Estate, the work of its owner, the Right and Honorable Dowager Countess of Shannon, Almine Barton, who designed the interiors to her dowager-y tastes and left the outside unchanged so that her tax assessments wouldn't go up. She describes the experience of living there as being "like living inside a Rembrandt painting."
